Scheduling Your Visit


Scheduling an appointment is simple and easy. Please call us at (973) 671-4982 or email us at hello@avantpain.com. Our patient coordinators will collect your insurance information to assess your coverage and schedule an appointment that is convenient for you at one of our locations.

Prior to Your Appointment


We look forward to seeing you for your appointment! In order to maximize your time with the doctor, you can simply fill out your demographic and medical information through OnPatient, our patient portal. Our patient care coordinator will send you an invitation to OnPatient via email.

Through the patient portal, you can:
- Access all your medical records
- Check in to your appointment
- Send us messages
- Request refills

To make your appointment more efficient, we ask that you bring any of your old records and imaging results such as x-rays, MRIs, CT scans, EMG and nerve conduction studies, etc... with you to the appointment.

Day of Your Appointment


When you arrive at one of our offices, you will be greeted by one of our front desk staff. If you have not already completed your demographic and medical intake through the portal, you will be given the brief forms on arrival. We will also provide you with our office forms for review.

Please give us a courtesy call at (973) 671-4982 if you are running late. We will do our best to keep you on schedule.

Initial Patient Evaluation


You’re one step closer to treating your pain! One of our medical assistants will bring you into a room to review your history and concerns. They will get as much information regarding your condition as possible in order to focus on your pain and best treatment.

Meet the Doctor


We value your time and want to focus on your main pain complaint. Our doctors will ask you more questions to hone in on your specific issue. Depending on their findings, they may order more tests such as x-rays, MRIs, or EMG and nerve conduction studies. They will develop a plan based on your goals and preferences ranging from conservative treatment with physical and/or chiropractic therapy or more advanced techniques such as interventional injections. Our doctors will explain every step and every procedure in detail to put you at ease and feel confident in your decision. Rest assured that any procedure that you may have is with the physician you met and all are highly skilled and trained in interventional pain management.

Next Steps


Depending on your plan of care, we may see you for a follow-up appointment after you complete the imaging studies or after a trial of conservative care. Our doctors will then discuss your options and decide on the next course of action.

If you have decided on a procedure, it will be scheduled before you leave the office. We will provide you with all the information for your injection which will be performed at a state-of-the art surgical center.

Prior Authorization


At this point, leave the rest to us. We will submit requests to your medical insurance for authorization of all procedures. Our skilled staff will navigate and coordinate with your insurance to make sure your procedure is covered. If there are any delays, we will make you aware and keep you informed every step of the way.

For any imaging, if you don’t already have a preferred center, we will direct you to a facility that will schedule and obtain all necessary authorizations. The process is quick, efficient and caters to your scheduling needs.

Billing


Since all procedures are pre-authorized, there will be no surprise bills or hidden charges. Prior to any planned treatments, our staff will inform you of the insurance coverage and any personal responsibilities so that there is complete clarity in the process. We are non-par with most insurances. However, medically necessary procedures are well covered by PPO and POS insurance plans. We will work with you to keep all costs down to what is right for you.
